Motion before the Hillsdale Neighborhood Association, March 3, 2010

The Hillsdale Neighborhood Association heartily supports and endorses the

Main Street
application of the Hillsdale Business and Professional Association and the Hillsdale Community Foundation.

A Main Street
designation for the Hillsdale commercial area will be a major step toward implementation of several plans our community has generated over the last 18 years.

Specifically, the Hillsdale commercial center has a great need for a paid

Main Street
manager to serve as an implementor of our plans and visions.

The

Main Street
approach will also stimulate increased community involvement, investment and volunteerism. It will also strengthen our local economy in trying economic times.

SCHOOLS REPORT, from Michael Reunert

The big news at PPS is the High School redesign process.  The proposed plan will include a number of comprehensive high schools + some magnet schools. The board will vote on the proposed plan on March 8. Details can be found at the PPS web site:  www.pps.k12.or.us  If people want to give input, there is an on-line survey at: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22AAJ7T8SM3

The good news locally is that PPS has agreed to provide another modular classroom at Rieke this summer, to accomodate our continuing growth.

BICYCLE UPDATE, from Michael Renert

On the Bicycle front, we are moving forward with the OM Base site and hope to start construction this month.  We have incorporated feedback from the community for the Baker & Spice/Food Front site and have held preliminary meetings with Ardys Braidwood.  Another meeting is planned to review the final plan with Ardys and discuss financing.

PUBLIC SAFETY, from Stefanie Adams

A police officer will be assigned as the neighborhood liaison to attend your meetings beginning in April. Based on our conversations, I am asking the Sergeant to schedule an officer at your general attendance meetings during odd months.

APRIL TOPICS:

Housing Authority update on Hillsdale Terrace if available

Wilson High Garden Plans, Fiona Dearth, Environmental Club

Ride Connection, James Uyeda & Katrinka Easterday

Public Safety, City of Portland/Police
