HILLSDALE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MEETING MINUTES 3 September 2008 I. The meeting was called to order by Don Baach at 7:05. A. Greeting B. Introductions C. Approximately 14 present. II. Approval of Agenda: The agenda was approved with the following additions: A. It is proposed that HNA join the three PTA’s – Rieke, Gray, Wilson B. It is moved and seconded that the HNA join the three PTA’s. The motion passed unanimously. C. IV, V, and VI below. III. Review of July and August 2008 Meeting Minutes--see Hillsdale web site (http://www.hna-pdx.com). IV. Treasurers report. Current balance is $476.51. All seems in order, historical. V. Glenn Bridger: Breezeway – Behind the new “Food Front.” A warehouse, separate from the shopping center, is going up behind the store to provide storage (though the store did not require it) –eliminating the likelihood of the connectivity of Wilson Park, schools, and the north side of the Hillsdale center (the south part of Hillsdale and the north part). There will be meetings to discuss the ‘shared vision’ that we have elaborated over the years and how it is impacted by this project, and how the vision might still be fulfilled given the new circumstances. Notify Glenn at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you want to be apprised of September meeting dates. VI. Elections – tabled to next month VII. Fred Pfaffle of Burlingame Avenue and Chestnut will present a proposal for a painted crosswalk at that intersection. The intersection of SW Chestnut and Burlingame is the biggest four way intersection by Wilson and Reike that does not have a crosswalk. Fred has connected nearly one hundredsignatures by local residents who feel that this crosswalk is needed. The neighbors are asking for the HNA endorsement and support of their efforts to create better visibility at this busy intersection where drivers often speed by. It is a ‘tragedy waiting to happen.’ Fred suggests that this be connected with work that the water bureau will be doing on Chestnut. A. Don Baach suggests that the HNA write to the city requesting that the previously requested crosswalks at SW 18th and SW Sunset, and SW Martha and SW Sunset be reaffirmed and add the request the addition of the Chestnut Crosswalk B. It is moved that HNA write to the city and request a crosswalk across SW Burlingame at SW Chestnut and reaffirm the request for crosswalks at SW 18th and SW Martha and SW Sunset C. It is moved that to modify the amendment as follows: It is moved that HNA write to the city to support the painting of a crosswalk across SW Burlingame Ave at SW Chestnut St. The motion was seconded and passed.
