May meeting is at the Watershed community room. Enter at the doors located between the two buildings. 1. Introductions, 7:00 10 minutes 2. 7:10 The cell tower folks called to say they want to do their presentation in June. The Naito Parkway discussion about the South Portland Circulation Study compromise between Hillsdale and South Portland will be held in June as well. PDOT will also attend to discuss developments in the North Macadams transportation planning efforts. 2 minutes 3. 7:12 Approval of the agenda including allocated times, 2 min 4. 7:14 Question if the Hillsdale Community wants to continue to have pedestrian connections between SW Seymour and SW 25th. Rick Seifert will summarize what has been said by both sides, we will then focus on the future connection and whether we want to continue to have a pedestrian connection at this site. 15 min 5. 7:29 Presentation by Sandra Walden and preliminary discussion on the Bertha Court solar array. This proposal originated with us and the City of Portland. 20 min 6. 7:49 Fred Nilsen of Portland Parks will explain the steps being taken to remove the Norway Maples in Hillsdale Park including 9 street trees to keep the Himes Nature Park from being seeded with Norway Maples. Other Parks issues. 10 minutes 7. 7:59 Support for nearby neighbors caring for SW 5th and SW Miles intersection above Aboy at the top of the stairs (along but above Barbur). 5 min 8. 8:04 Discussion about increasing Hillsdale NA involvement, possibly by holding a meeting at the Farmers Market on a Sunday. 10 min 9. 8:14 Brief summary of the Rieke softball field fence situation, and PPS moves to keep residents informed of upcoming developments on PPS facilities throughout SW Portland. Summary of meeting with PPS on April 23rd. 12 min 10. 8:26 Up date on the Hillsdale Working Group, RFP is out for planning effort this summer. 5 min 11. 8:31 Appointment of nominating committee. Elections in June 2008. The following positions are open: VP currently held by Duane Hunting, Treasurer currently held by Vincent Pimont, and the Board Position currently held by Rick Seifert. 2 min 11. 8:33 Motion of support for the pedestrian connections from Terwilliger to Barbur north of Chart House and from the Marquam Trail to OHSU, and from Fairmount east to Marquam Trail. All of these routes help people walk to OHSU and get them off busy streets, make it a pleasure to walk. This will also help Hillsdale Residents to get to the bus on Barbur, South Portland folks get to to work at OHSU in a much better, safer and faster manner. I will try to bring a visual of what we are talking about. 10 min 12. 8:43 Support for letter to Adams, BES asking steps be replaced at BES expense using new materials and built to SWTrails Standards on Trial 3 between Barbur bridge and I5 bridge that were destroyed by BES in March. It will be 2 years before the construction on the Iowa structure commences, and another 2 years of construction. We will be meeting with ODOT sometime soon to talk about the construction and impact on Hillsdale/South Portland/SWTrails and what we would like in the way of mitigation. 10 min
8:58 If time permits: Report from the Hillsdale Alliance discussion about script and the Hillsdale foundation. I would like to defer this to the June meeting if possible. Old Business, New Business, Announcements Adjourn Important announcement: The Jerome Sears Armory in Multnomah is having a meeting Thursday evening May 8th at the Armory to talk about the future of the site. Alternatives under consideration include a High School, a City of Portland Transportation Depot with lots of trucks, and mixed use housing. CPAH has a proposal in this fight. Do we want to take any action about the future use of this land?
B. BES will tell us about some of their plans for spending capital dollars improving our streams and ask for our input. C. The consultant working with Verison will be here to talk about the latest design of the proposed Wilson Cell tower which they would like to mount on the top of one of the field lighting poles on the football field. PPS will be invited to participate as well. |
